• In 1998, 98% of the Incumbent US Senators and Representatives were reelected. This means that the ones in office have stacked the deck in their own favor. Our effort is to help level the playing field. The challengers are just as qualified as the incumbents.
• In our opinion, representing the people of this country should NOT be a life long career. Term limits are in order.
• The US Senators and/or Representatives from each state should have equal power. This equal representation is lost when a few life-long Senators and Representatives build their power base over the years.
• The longer a Senator or Representative serves, the greater the probability of the 'special interest' gaining influence over them.
• By being a part of this effort, it is possible that more people will vote. In 1998 only about 1/3 of the registered voters took part. The forecast is that in off year elections, voter participation will drop to 1/5 unless something is done.
• The lower the voter turnout, the more power the special interest have and the easier an incumbent can get reelected.
• Campaign financing is one of the most important influencing factors in our government today. By voting out the incumbents, it is believed that this problem will be decreased.
